Catie Joy is a Philadelphian living in Boston.  She recently graduated from Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts with a BA in writing, literature, and gender, and will be an MFA candidate in nonfiction writing at Emerson College beginning in Fall 2012.  Catie’s interests include eavesdropping, the internet, boat shoes, gender, and feminism.  She does not enjoy American conservatism, explaining that Joy really is her last name, garlic (thanks to a depressing allergy), or when she’s mistakenly called “Catty.”  She spends her time thinking and writing about gender in contemporary literature, reproductive rights and sex education (and the TV show The Secret Life of the American Teenager as it relates to these issues), identity (hers and that of others), and adoption stories.
